Trade Directories
19th and 20th century trade directories were similar to phone books, often listing people by both trade and surname. The directories were published and printed by a variety of companies - initially national directories would comprise a single volume, but later editions were more likely to cover a single or small cluster of counties. Piggot, Kelly, Slater & White were the most well known of the national published editions.
